HeyTacoAPI

Rate Limits & Caching

Request rate limits and retry behavior.

HeyTaco limits a team to 50+ requests per minute across all tokens belonging to a team. Successful requests are cached for 60s. For fresh data, re-poll after 60 seconds.

Responding to rate limiting

If you exceed a rate limit, HeyTaco will return an HTTP 429 Too Many Requests error and a Retry-After HTTP header containing the number of seconds until you can retry.

For example, if your app exceeds the rate limit when executing a query, you might receive a response like this:

HTTP/1.1 429 Too Many Requests
Retry-After: 30

This response instructs your app to wait 30 seconds before attempting to call any endpoint with any token authored by any member of your HeyTaco team.

See rate_limited for the full error response shape.
